Touch Hill Place Condominium mountain-shadowed high-rise hideaway

Earlier bar-raising DEVELOPMENT!

Although inclined towards vertical living whenever stopping over in Chiang Mai on business, Touch Kutanawat could never find any local condos that measured up to his lofty standards. So as crack constructor and MD of the LPM Builder Company, he snapped up a tad over a handful rai of land at the foot of Doi Suthep mountain in the latter part of 2008 with the intention of engineering a competition-beating premium condominium. Lo and behold, the name Touch Hill Place was born!

Despite ambitions to figure a brace of condo buildings, the later Touch Hill Place Elegant is looking anything but having been in construction limbo on the site for ages now. Still, with a ‘ground-breaking’ ceremony in December that same year then assembled and articled to exacting specifications, the first Touch Hill condo at least was ticked off the to-do list in October 2009.

At 11 storeys tall and, ‘harmonising with the natural surroundings’, a well formed historical Lanna meets modern contemporary style of architecture and interiors, the smoothly operated Touch Hill Place is as much deserving of residential attention today as it was back in the day.

Quieter than quiet, town-edge WHEREABOUTS!

Fronted on –but peacefully back from- the 4307 strip of the Nong Hor Road, Touch Hill Place stands within easy moseying distance of several quality foraging haunts. Furthermost away at one kilometre is the quirky Suan Pailom moo baan [housing community] which, from sunrise on Saturdays, is home to Nana Jungle Market with its bountiful reserves of yummy baked treats and rustic foodstuffs; closer again to the condo is Teak Table Eatery for savoury domestic bites then, getting going in the evenings with ice-cold Slurpee style jelly beer to the accompaniment of live music, Gate 5 Café. And which just happens to be located right opposite the fifth entrance of the whoppingly scaled and Northern Thai structured Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Centre so couldn’t be handier for occupants to take in the capital’s biggest expo and tradeshow events!

Yet in spite of its gloriously escapist location, Touch Hill Place is just 500 metres from the Nong Hor intersection; producing a three-way split to infinitely more built-up stamping grounds let alone more countrified territory.

No more a three minute zip along the northbound carriageway of Canal Road, in the district of Mae Rim, is the 700th Anniversary Stadium; created not only to commemorate seven centuries since Chiang Mai’s founding but also as a venue for the South East Asian (SEA) Games in 1995, the multi-purpose sports complex boasts an Olympic pool, two gymnasia, firing and golfing ranges, athletics track, football [soccer] field, bike racing velodrome, taekwondo and aerobic dance clubs, ping pong tables, and badminton, basketball, tennis and volleyball courts! Continuing forward for the same period again is the recently opened Astro Park with free-to-attend moon, planet and star gazing get-togethers at their observatory on Saturday nights. While driving a comparable stretch in the same direction leads to the turning for Huey Tueng Tao lake; making for a positively blissful week day getaway, shoot selfies with the ever multiplying band of straw-made giant creatures, hang loose at one of the lakeside bamboo cabanas eyeing the jaw-droppingly picturesque hillscape or else hike the trails in the bordering National Park!

Running east from the Nong Hor junction is highway route 1366 for a much greater lineup of restaurants, coffee shops and convenience stores; not to mention, before the approach road to the Highland People Discovery Museum and Suan Luang Rama 9 public park, a Wednesday afternoon farmers’ market with practically giveaway organic fresh produce from the likes of the Royal Project in Mon Chaem. Of benefit to those folks who lack their own wheels and operating almost 20 times every day, the B3 municipal bus can be hopped from the same side of the road for travel by way of CentralFestival mall to Terminals 2 and 3 of the Provincial Arcade transport station.

Journey down Canal Road, on the other hand, and in scarcely more than one and a half klicks hit Huay Kaew Road – port of call for The Chiang Mai Complex at Malin Plaza with its student predominated food court and Kad Na Mor night market; Chiang Mai University’s main campus complete with canteens, bakeries and cafés, a post office, branches of the major Thai banks, and a central library; in addition to the popular Maya lifestyle mall and the jumping on point for the city’s most happening dining, retail and entertainment quarter, Nimmanhaemin!

IN-HOUSE AMENITIES to keep the grown-ups and the kids happy!

Beyond Touch Hill Place’s secluded vicinity as the first line of protection, the property’s shared areas are under guard and fixed camera security 24 hours daily in combination with electronic key card access to the building itself.

Therein lies the naturally lit and passably proportioned sofa’ed double-volume lobby fixed up with free AIS WiFi internet, and juristic person facility open 8AM to 5PM Monday to Saturday. Straight above the sales office in the foyer, and reachable by either of the twin lifts [elevators], is the rippingly stocked extended gym; which, in turn, looks out onto the communal leisure corner offering a sauna, 20×8 metre outdoor swimming pool with attached Disney charactered paddling pool and nearby toy sized children’s playground.

Not leaving out that between canopied bays and an inside lot on both the ground and first floors, there’s 81 on-premises car parking spots or one per condo unit…and change!

Convention-breaking CONDO UNITS with scenic backdrop at no added charge!

Not only are each of Touch Hill Place’s 79 residential pads separated by sound-deadening double brick internal walls, but also deliberately designed to be extra-large; condos with 1 bedroom plus as many bathrooms enjoy a minimum useable space of 48 square metres and an utmost of 84 whereas the least sizeable 2 and 3 bed suites come in at 84 sq m to upward of 134.

As often as not, units are supplied fully air-conned and likewise furnished in an open concept living/dining/kitchen layout; as well as including a private balcony which, especially from upper floors at the back, brag blinding wide views across to the forested heights of the Thanon Thong Chai range!
