Head west/northwest of Chiang Mai’s Old City and you’ll hit Nimman – at its heart, Nimmanhaemin Road which along with its namesake side streets ranks as the undisputed hipster hub and most westernised spot in town. Not only is the neighbourhood chock-a-block with creative co-working spaces, cosmopolitan eateries, chic cafés, trendy bars, indie boutiques and modern-day shopping plazas, but it just so happens to boast more condominium buildings per square metre than anywhere else in the city! So if you’re chewing over setting up home in this particular neck of the woods, you’re in luck as we recap the main move-in-ready condos in Nimmanhaemin.
Looking for a condo in the thick of the action?
It’s no wonder the condo claims to be built at the ‘Best Location in Nimman’ because it doesn’t get more central or, for that matter, more luxurious than The Nimmana. You’ve got a pick of close to 350 stylishly decked out units from upsized studios of 34 to 38 sq m through to three bed Premium Suites weighing in at 120 to 143 sq m. Even sweeter, a good number of the condo units face west so you get spectacular sweeping views of the nearby Doi Suthep-Pui mountain scenery which is a real rarity in Nimman nowadays! Not that it comes cheap but for one good lookin’ and seriously classy low-rise des res, you can’t go wrong with LIV@Nimman. Up for grabs are any of 70 swanky condo units in either of one or two bedrooms from 37 to 142 sq m including a few duplex penthouse suites which, virtually unique in Chiang Mai, are blessed with their very own private garden! Add in premium resort style amenities like the striking courtyard lap pool with built-in jacuzzi, rooftop garden with picnic spot and viewing terrace plus, inside the three-storey clubhouse, a lobby lounge, gym, library, open-air barbeque area and even a wine deck. Take the high-rises Hillside 2 right on the main drag and, literally round the corner, Hillside 3 hidden down the end of a small soi. Not that units are thin on the ground either with several hundred between ‘em and, better yet, plenty have been modernised from top to bottom. Studios from 30 to 45 sq m hit the market the most often but every once in a while, infinitely more epic one or more bedroom units crop up like the mind-blowing 600-odd sq m high-spec three bed duplex penthouse on the 11th/12th floors of Hillside 3 which comes complete with its very own private rooftop and killer 360° bird’s-eye vistas!
How about a whole family of condos?
If you’re bent on scoring somewhere a short way from Nimmanhaemin’s bustling main road then any of the superior quality, fully featured and serviceable Palms Springs condos should fit your bill! Kicking off with The Nimman by Palm Springs and its 60+ snappily interiored deluxe one bed units from 30 to 42 sq m. To say nothing of the absolutely fab saltwater pool on the rooftop and the place to soak up the breathtaking outlook over Chiang Mai’s urban landscape and towards the Thanon Thong Chai peaks.
No more than a couple of sois away, you’ll find Palm Springs Nimman Areca, Fountain, Parlor and, the newest and plushest of the lot, Royal buildings. Winner of the ‘Best Affordable Low-Rise Condominium’ award in May this year, there’s just shy of 300 units in total with mostly one bedroom from 28 to 43 sq m and a half-dozen 75 sq m two bed suites in Palm Springs Nimman Royal. All four condos share the same whereabouts but, handily, each has its own outdoor swimming pool and indoor fitness room.
