Like its predecessor, My Hip condo, My Hip 2 condo is the brainchild of the Home Development Group, itself the real estate subsidiary of Chiang Mai’s very own bathroom and kitchen specialist, Home Sukkapan. As a modern luxury development launched around two years ago, the prominent My Hip 2 condo offers community-like living in the midst of one of the city’s current economic hotspots.


More akin to a self-contained urban village, the Chiang Mai Business Park (CBP) is home to My Hip 2 condo and numerous retail, commercial, and leisure concerns. Within a stone’s throw from the property is a hearty supply of coffee shops and 7-Eleven stores, banks, restaurants, dental clinics, pharmacies, fitness studios, serviced wash shops, and the exquisitely structured Khum Khantoke Dining and Culture Centre.

Equally as convenient, lying just a few short steps from My Hip 2 condo is the city’s largest (and most budget-friendly) hypermarket, Big C Extra, which boasts an immense choice of fresh and frozen foodstuffs, beverages, personal care products, clothing, home appliances, electronic devices and other household goods as well as bill payment services and a sizeable food court. For an even more comprehensive shopping experience, CentralFestival –reputedly the largest mall in Northern Thailand- is a short 15 to 20 minute walk away. Ideally, for those without their transport, a complimentary shuttle bus service operates four routes daily from CentralFestival to set destinations throughout Nimmanhaemin and Huay Kaew Roads, the ‘Old City, Chiang Mai Airport and the Night Bazaar. Finally, by virtue of the condo’s proximity to the multi-lane Super Highway, residents have fast, direct access to Bangkok Hospital (judged by many Thai and foreign ex-pats as the most exemplary medical hub in all of Chiang Mai) and, further on, the mighty wholesaler Makro while, in the opposite direction, to as far as the futuristic-looking Maya Lifestyle Shopping Centre and the trendy Nimman neighbourhood.

For inter-city travel, Chiang Mai’s main (‘Provincial Arcade’) bus station is easily reachable on foot from My Hip 2 condo in 15 or so minutes.


Besides the discreet presence of ever-on-duty security guards and video surveillance coverage in all common areas of the property, entry is using a personal-issue electronic keycard; for added peace of mind, the juristic office is accessible between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM Monday to Saturday (with sales office staff otherwise available to assist residents on a Sunday). With separate bays for motorcycles and cars, each condo building features street-level covered parking with a collective capacity of 240 spaces. Likewise, on the first floor of each building is a keycard-accessed unit accommodating resident’s lockable mailboxes and a group of variously-sized storage lockers; adjacent to which is an agreeably decorated, smartly furnished bright and spacious lobby complete with a gathering of the comfortably plush sofa and corresponding armchairs, coffee table, writing desk and outfitted with several colonial style ceiling fans (and wall-mounted air-conditioner). Free WiFi is limited to this shared area alone though a dedicated installation of private, in-room home broadband can be self-arranged through Chiang Mai’s Internet Service Providers (for which supplementary charges are applicable).

Situated on approximately four rai (0.64 hectares) of prime land, each of My Hip 2 condo’s three adjoining 7-storey residential buildings (identified as 2, 3 and 4) enjoys on-site leisure facilities. On the second floor, a centrepiece outdoor swimming pool equipped with saltwater chlorination seldom seen in Chiang Mai condos; surrounding the water’s edge are a few patio tables and chairs, a handful of sun loungers and, around the periphery, a series of planted bushes affording a degree of privacy in a surprisingly peaceful setting. Leading down from one corner of the pool is an indoor ‘mini-gym’ containing a humble collection of up-to-the-minute exercise apparatus in near-pristine condition and, beyond which, an equally unassuming astroturfed children’s play area. Unfortunately, neither a sauna nor jacuzzi exists in the condo.


Except for a small number of partly furnished units, the bulk of the 328 units that together make up My Hip 2 condo are supplied on a fully –and elegantly- furnished basis and air-conditioned throughout although, as standard, are absent of cutlery, crockery and glassware and household linens (tablecloth, towels and bedding). Boasting 3m high ceilings with full height and width curtained windows, interiors benefit from natural light. They are attractively appointed using “export-grade quality” furniture with contemporary décor rich in predominantly Earth-tone colours.

Despite lacking studios, My Hip 2 condo presents units in a wide variety of dimensions and configurations, occupying floors 2 through 7 of each building. One bedroom, One bathroom units measure 37 to 48 sq m and offer a sliding door system to partition the sleeping quarters from the rest of the room. Two bedroom, Two bathroom units range from 69 to 90 sq m. 

There are three ‘Presidential Suites’ (one per building) of 115 sq m, incorporating a small enclosed garden with a rattan hanging chair overlooking the pool on the third floor. In buildings 2 and 4, a three-bedroom, two-bathroom unit with 107 sq m of habitable space exists. The living/dining/kitchen area is entirely open-plan (specific units featuring a walk-through galley kitchen) with one or more private terraces and either laminate or tiled flooring. By default, kitchen appliances consist of a countertop electric hob and cooker hood, fridge/freezer, microwave and, on account of there being no in-house laundry room, a fitted washing machine.

Bathrooms comprise different styles of glass-paneled shower cubicles with oversized rainforest showerhead, ceramic basin, under sink storage, ceiling extractor fan, and, in 2 bedroom units, also an en suite bathtub. The living/dining space contains a dining table with two, three, or four matching chairs, a two- or three-seat cushioned sofa, and at least one flat-screen television.

At present, 20% of building 2 remains vacant, 30% of building 3 is available, and roughly 40% of building four is occupied. The primary demographic of condo residents are foreigners of assorted nationalities (most ex-pats are renting over the long-term along with the occasional holiday let) and, at the time of writing, My Hip 2 has a remaining proportion of its 49% foreign-owned legal quota.
